Check out below what we are working on!

"Under the Lord's leading, we have recently returned from a trip to the Dominican Republic, where there are nearly 1 million Haitian refugees. The level of poverty in most of these communities is even worse than in Haiti, because they are heavily discriminated against and not many people are helping them. In June, we will send our five older kids to an intense 4-6 months of language and missionary training in Nicaragua. Here, they will learn English, Spanish, Bible, and life skills. They will spend 4 days a week in school, and two days in hands-on ministry in surrounding communities. They will be taught under the guidance of Farrell Burton and Steve Horne, and will be enrolled in a ministry and Christian language school. Upon completion, the five young adults will graduate with the ability to speak 3 languages - Spanish, English and Creole- as well as have a grasp of the Bible and ministry training. After completing this intense training, they will return to these Haitian communities in the Dominican Republic along with us, to minister to the people there. They are all very excited about this opportunity...as are we!"
"

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/TUGSvskFd_I/AAAAAAAAAJ8/K8a5whEs86w/s320/kevin%2Bnewsletter.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5566891962520664050" />

We are so excited for the year 2011 and what God has in store for us in Haiti. We have recently finished our second level and have plans to take in some more children into our home. We need more monthly sponsors to make this possible.

We have a goal of 20 new sponsors in February. This is a big goal for our ministry and we realize we can't do it unless God provides...and we know He can! Would you consider becoming a monthly sponsor of P127 Haiti? With a $30 a month suggested donation, you will help provide food, clothing, a Christian home, school, and caretakers to a child in need. If you can't sponsor $30 a month, any monthly amount would be a big help. For details please visit project127-haiti.com and click on Projects, then Sponsorship.

Want Us to Come to Your Church or Group?

Maybe your church would like to become more involved in international missions. If so, we would love to come and speak to you on a Sunday morning, night, or Wednesday night. It would be an honor for us to come and share about Haiti and what the Lord is doing there. We could provide information about Haiti, our ministry, what we do in Haiti, and how you can be involved. Send an email to steve@project127.org and we can get something scheduled.

Want to Bring Your Group on a Mission Trip?

Almost nothing will have an impact on your life like taking an international mission trip will. We would love for you to experience that with us. You will get a chance to be Jesus to the people of Haiti, while getting a huge blessing in return. Come experience a week packed full of incredible missions opportunities. We still have several weeks available during the late spring and summer of 2011 that we could reserve for your church group. Contact us today if you would be interested in putting together a group from your church and bringing them to Haiti.

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and support. We hadn't planned it this way, but we were able to be there during Hurricane Tomas. We spent a lot of time in prayer for our children, and for the rest of Haiti, that the storm would not do much damage. According to the original projections from the storm, Aquin was set to be in the direct path of the eye of Tomas but thankfully it passed well west of Aquin. It started raining on Wednesday night and rained on and off through the night, all day Thursday and Thursday night, and throughout the day Friday. There was a lot of flooding near the children's home and elsewhere, but thankfully, we suffered no real damage. We saw first hand the power of prayer and how the damage was very minimal throughout Haiti, compared with what the projections were. Praise the Lord! Please watch some of the videos I took on my recent trip.

Click here to view the first video

God bless you all,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

Missions Trip Update

Man, what a great trip we had over the past week in Haiti. Sorry for not posting any updates while we were there, but I tried several times and the internet service failed! Welcome to a foreign country! Thank you all so much for your prayers while we were gone. We definitely felt God's protection.

I have taken a lot of missions teams to Haiti, and I will say that this was one of the best teams yet. And no, I don't say that after every group. We had a team of 18 people, of which 10 were from Central Baptist in Deer Park, Texas, and the other 8 were from various churches in the Charlotte, NC area. Everyone in the group had great attitudes and was very open to the different types of ministry we did while there. It was awesome to see God work in the lives of everyone in the group.

We flew to Haiti on Monday and spent the night in Port au Prince. On Tuesday, we got up and drove the 4 hour trip to Aquin. The group went to the children's home to see the kids, while I went out and bought paint and food for the Friday ministry day. On Wednesday, part of the group painted the upstairs of the house, while the rest of the group sorted the food and toys for Friday. Thursday, part of the group went to the mountain village of Leje for a service, and part of the group went to the island village of Kay Romier for a service. When we met back up in Aquin, we went down to the local soccer field and schooled by some Haitian kids. Friday, we went back to the villages, switching group locations and passed out food bags to all the families represented in the villages. We also sat around and had a time of fellowship with all the people. Friday night brought more soccer and getting our tails kicked again! Saturday was a much needed day of relaxation and fun at the beach with our kids, followed by a great church service that night. On Sunday, we headed back to Port au Prince, and flew home Monday. A special thanks goes out to the everyone in the group for making it awesome!

All the kids are doing great and we are seeing some of them step up into leadership positions. I am so proud of all of them, especially Fabienne and Fito as they set Godly examples for the younger kids. The second level is almost finished. Since we finished the painting, we can now proceed with finishing the floors and windows. We are also still working on getting our well drilling machine modified and sent to Haiti in the next few months. We are really excited about this area of ministry as well. Check out www.project127-haiti.com to see how you can be involved!

God bless you all,
Steve Horne

Missions Team

Hey everyone. I just wanted to give a quick post as I finish packing for our next trip. We will be leaving on Monday morning, July 26th for a week long mission trip to Aquin, Haiti. There will be a team of 18 going of which 8 are from the Charlotte area and 10 are from Deer Park, Texas. We are really excited to be taking this group which will have many first timers going to Haiti. Please pray for our safety as we travel and minister in Haiti. Also, pray that we will be effective in doing what the Lord has laid out for us to do. We have been very busy here at Project 127 Haiti. With groups coming to Haiti and planning for the fall, this is one of our busiest times of the year. We are very excited about what the Lord is doing through us and with our ministry in Haiti.

We had a missions team from NC and GA with us in Haiti last week. In spite of all the rain from the tropical storm, we were able to get a lot accomplished while the group was there. We spent three days painting, scraping, and more painting at the children's home and making it beautiful. It was great to see all of our Haitian kids pitch in and help us paint as well. It was also a huge blessing to us and them to be able to spend some time with them. We also traveled by boat to the island of Gros Cayes, just off the coast of Aquin. While there we held a big evangelistic service with puppets, testimonies, songs, and a great message from Pastor Keith Beatty. We were also able to pass out some much appreciated items to the people in the little village there. We are also preparing for a team from NC and TX that will be coming down to Haiti on July 26th. We are really excited about this trip as well.

Our well drilling machine is almost completed and should be delivered to us in NC by next weekend. When we get it in NC, we will drill a few test wells and familiarize ourselves with it before we ship it to Haiti. We are working on several different avenues that will allow us to get it to Haiti in the next few months. We are really excited to see how God will use the gift of clean water to further His Kingdom in Haiti. Please continue to be in prayer with us about this. We will also be traveling to a Water Summit Meeting on July 12th in Hickory, NC. There will be many different people from well drillers, to water purification companies represented at this meeting. We are excited about the possibilities and the people we will meet there.

We just added some more pictures of our trip to our facebook account. If you are on facebook, join the group Project 127 Haiti and check out all of the pictures.

Thank you so much for all your prayers and concerns about the people of Haiti.

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

More Pictures

<img style="cursor:pointer; That's "Good morning everyone" in Creole. I hope this post finds you all well. Things are going great here at Project 127 Haiti. This is a busy time of year for us. We have a lot going on and we could sure use your prayers.

First, an update on the last trip to Haiti. Jim Rice recently spent a week in Haiti working on some projects around the children's home. The main purpose of his trip was to try and get our well functional again, since it was damaged in the earthquake. We had hoped we could maybe repair it and not have to dig a new well. But, as things usually go in Haiti, that wasn't the case so it's on to plan B. Plan B is to dig a new well. He was able to repair a damaged foot valve on the pump, which gave us some water flow, but not nearly enough to provide for all our needs.

This leads us to an exciting opportunity that God has brought our way. We have located a ministry in Texas that builds well drilling machines. It turns out that we can purchase a drilling machine for what it would cost us to drill a new one in Haiti. It is being built now and we are going to be able to buy it at a very discounted rate because we will be using it for ministry. This opens up a whole new area of ministry in Haiti for us, as we can hopefully start drilling wells around Haiti for those who don't have clean water. We can use this opportunity to minister to the communities that we are drilling in.

There is obviously some big prayer needs for all of this to happen though. We will still need to ship the drilling machine to Haiti when it is completed. We will also need to purchase a truck to pull the machine, since it will be mounted on a trailer. We could either buy one in the States and ship it to Haiti, or we could just buy one in Haiti. We are looking at several options right now. Thank you so much to all of you who have already helped us raise money to put towards the well.

We are gearing up for two big mission teams that will be coming to Haiti this summer. The first group consists of about 12 people from Georgia and NC and will be coming June 21-28. The second group consists of about 20 people from Texas and NC and will be coming July 26-Aug. 2. We are very excited about many new team members who will be taking there first mission trip to Haiti. These will be primarily ministry outreach teams that will be sharing the Gospel in some of the most remote parts of Haiti.

Again, thank you all so much for your prayers and help in God's work in Haiti. We couldn't do it without you. It is an honor to consider each of you partners of Project 127 Haiti!

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

Teams Leave for Haiti

Please be in prayer for some of our team who will be leaving this week for short term mission trips to Haiti. Today, we will have a team of four, lead by Farrell Burton, leaving for Haiti. They will be visiting and encouraging our kids and adults at our children's home. They will also be taking tents and temporary housing to a ministry in the Citi Soleil areas of Haiti.

On Thursday, May 29th, one of our men will be going to Haiti for a week to try and repair our well that was damaged by the earthquake. Jim Rice will be trying to get our well functional again, as well as installing a water purification system. He will also be doing some electrical work on our second level. Please pray that the well can be repaired, as our people are in desperate need of more water.

Please keep these two teams in your prayers. Pray for their safety, and for God to bless their work, and ultimately that they will have an impact for Jesus Christ.

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

April 2010 Update

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/S8SE098epGI/AAAAAAAAAH4/o4sZsZr_Ur4/s320/P3300021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459634693796176994" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/S8SE0VioCnI/AAAAAAAAAHw/zDO0qt2aDGQ/s320/P3310033.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5459634682950322802" />
Hello again everyone. First of all, let me say thank you again for your continued prayers and support of Project 127 Haiti. God has truly used each and every one of you to be a huge blessing to our ministry in the past few months. We have some exciting things happening in the coming summer months!

Just over the past two weeks, we were able to take 2 different groups on short term mission trips to Haiti. The first group was a leadership team from Conyers, GA. We did some planning and scouting for a group from their church that will be going back to Haiti in June. We were able to travel by boat to the island of Gros Caye which lies just off of the coast of Aquin. It was our second trip to this remote island that is cut off from the rest of Haiti. We met with the leaders of two different communities on the island to plan our outreaches there in June. They are very excited about our group coming back to minister to them. We also gave them a New Testament radio that is solar and hand crank powered so they can listen to the Word of God in their own Creole language. This is a great gift for them because many of them cannot read and don't have access to Bibles. We can't wait to get a report in June on how the listening groups are doing. We also purchased some supplies for the group from King's Way Baptist Church that was coming in the following week.

The King's Way group worked on some much needed projects at the children's home throughout their week in Haiti. They built bunk beds, tiled the kitchen, painted, built shelves, and worked on several other projects around the house. They also delivered lots of new clothes and supplies to all of our kids and leaders in Haiti. These have been very hard to find since the January earthquake. The group also held services each night at the Youth Shack Church that meets at the children's home, and saw around 150 attend each night. Praise the Lord!

Things in Haiti are still very bad from the earthquake. As we flew into Port au Prince, we could see all of the tent cities that have sprung up all over the country. These people are still struggling to get back to as normal a life as possible, but for most Haitians, their lives will never be the same. Please continue to pray for the people who have been affected by the earthquake. Praise the Lord that all of our people and our home was spared any major damage.

Over the next few weeks and months, we will be installing a new well and water treatment system at our children's home. We will also be taking several short term mission groups. Please continue to pray for the Lord's work in Haiti.

I have also posted some pictures of our new kids who recently moved in. We cannot even begin to tell you all how much of a blessing you have been to us in the past two weeks. I believe God is going to do some amazing things as a result of the earthquake. The Haitian people have a spirit that is the strongest I have seen anywhere and they will rebound. It will take lots of time and assistance, but together we can all help them rebuild. So many of you have donated money, food items, school supplies, and other items and we can promise you they will go to great use in Haiti in the months to come. Haiti not only needs our help now, but will need it in the months and years to come, so we pray that we can all team up together to help them. You can continue to make donations through www.project127-haiti.com[1] or mailed to PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075. We are in need of some more people to join us in support on a monthly basis so we can continue our work in Haiti long after the memory of the earthquake passes. If you would like to partner with us in this, email steve@project127.org[2] for more information and we would be glad to help you.

Myself and a team of two others left for Haiti the day after the earthquake and were able to fly into Santo Domingo, DR and then drive into Haiti. We passed through Port au Prince and were able to track down several of our friends there and make sure they were doing ok. We were able to leave some money and supplies with Jules, our mission manager in Haiti, to help him get back on his feet. He and his entire neighborhood were left homeless. I don't even have the words to describe the destruction in the capital city of Haiti. We then left and drove several hours southwest to our childrens home and were able to meet with our kids and inspect the house. We are very happy to report that the damage there is very minimal and the kids are all doing well. We were also able to leave supplies and money to provide for them for the next two months.

We will be sending one of our men from NC into Haiti tomorrow with medical supplies
that he will deliver to hospitals in the Port au Prince area. Please be in prayer for Farrell Burton over the next week.

Also, two of our boys who have been with us from the beginning were able to fly to
Florida last night to meet up with their adoptive family from Texas. They had started the adoption over two years ago and because of the earthquake, were able to speed the process up. Praise the Lord!

Many of you are asking, where do we go from here? Well, our mission continues to be investing in the lives of the children in our orphanage and raising them up to be leaders in their community. They are the one's who are going to make a difference in their country! As a result of the earthquake, there are even more orphans that need loving care. Our immediate need is to finish the second story on our orphanage so we can house 10 more kids. As soon as this addition is finished we will be able to move these kids in. We will also need to bring in additional support staff at the orphanage to help with these new kids.

If you would like us to come and share about our work in Haiti, please email
steve@project127.org[3]. We are filling up our schedule with speaking engagements and would love to come and share and say thank you.

God bless you all,

Steve Horne

Project 127 Haiti

Haiti Update

Hello everyone. I will be posting a detailed update in the next day or so after I sort through everything since I have returned from Haiti. Please read the following message from Pastor Frank Penley who traveled with our team to Haiti over the past week.....

It seems like a month has passed in the last week. I am thankful to tell
you that Our orphans and the orphanage is fine, and other than a few cracks
and scared hearts all is OK. God allowed us to drive through Port-A-Prince
and the 4 hours past it to give our kids two months supplies. I was not
prepared for the 5 hours we spent in Port-a-Prince looking for our families.
I for the 1st time in my life was able to understand some of the things said
in Revelations from the eyes of one living and walking in the death and
destruction. Haiti needs 100 times more help than they are getting and I
fear more will die in the next 6 weeks than have died in the earthquake. We
need to keep praying and all of us need to help as much as we will. We drove
through the devastation for over two hours and my only thoughts was that
everyone is dead. Project127-Haiti.com has decided to double our efforts and
help by increasing our orphanage 10 more kids. We are needing help to help
in Haiti and will in the next few days be coming up with a way for everyone
who wants to help to have a part. We are thankful for everyone's prayers and
please pray for the people in Haiti who have suffered loss of family members
to many who had only one or two from a single family survive. I pray that
the Christians will show Christ to these desperately lost and needy people.

Frank Penley
Isaiah 41:10

Haiti Update

Hello everyone. Let me thank you for your prayers for our team over the last week. Also thank you for your prayers for our kids and the Haitian people. We returned from Port au Prince to Santo Domingo last night and will be returning to the States on Thursday. We have a lot of people asking how they can help right now. Not only will the Haitian people need help immediately, but they will also need lots of help in the months to come.

We have a lot of information to process and are working by the minute to get everything lined up. At this point, money is still the best way to help. We are working with a lot of people to get supplies and necessities as well. It has been a very restless night for all of us involved in Haiti.

Just in the last 5 minutes, we were finally able to talk with our people on the ground in Haiti. We spoke with our main guy Jules. He lives on the outskirts of Port au Prince, where the very epicenter of the quake hit. He and his family are all ok. The second story of his house has completely crumbled down, though the first story is fairly intact, but probaly unstable. He said all of the buildings and houses on his street have completely crumbled and there is complete devastation around the capital city.

Our kids and Marie are all fine at the orphanage, but with communication being very spotty, we are not quite sure of the structural damamage to the orphanage. I want to correct myself from the previous email. Our orphanage is about 70 miles from the capital, not 90-100 like I estimated yesterday.

Myself and a team of 3 others plan to leave for Haiti as soon as we can find a way down there. We are going to spend the next little bit researching our options, but at this point it looks like we may have to fly into the Dominican Republic and drive over. We will be going to check on our people and to assist in the relief efforts.

Many of you are asking how you can help. Prayer is the most important, but monetary assistance is needed too. It will be very difficult to take supplies in at this point so money donations to buy fresh water and food (which will probably be sky high) is greatly needed. We also will not be taking normal routes into Haiti, so our costs to travel will probably be significantly higher. Any donations will be greatly appreciated and tax deductible. Please consider giving to help the Haitian people. You can be sure the money will go directly to help them.

If you would like to donate, please call me ASAP at 704-634-2417 or email me. Checks can be made to Project 127 with the denote Haiti hurricane on them. Cash will also be accepted. Notice is very short, so we would like to collect these donations today, as we may be traveling as early as tomorrow. However, you can also mail in your donations to Project 127, PO Box 321, Harrisburg, NC 28075.

Thank you and God bless,

Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

January 2010

Hello again everyone. It is a great time in the Lord as we start off this new year. As you can tell from my previous post, God has blessed our ministry in Haiti greatly over the past year. Now, we are excited to see what God will accomplish through us in 2010. The new year is always an exciting time for me, because it is like a fresh start. It's also a time for us to regroup and refocus on what God has called us to in Haiti. I love to get out and share what God has allowed us to be a part of in Haiti. Whether it be in churches that I have visited previously, a new church, or just with people I meet, it's a blessing for me to share what God is doing in Haiti. 2010 holds a lot of exciting things for Project 127 Haiti.

Mission Trips are a way for us to connect people from the States to people in Haiti. We have a Medical Team from Brooklyn, NY that will be with us Feb. 15th-21st. We will be taking a family missions trip April 5th-11th. We also will be taking 3 groups in during the summer. If you would like to go on a trip with us or a group from your church would like to go, email me for more information. We would love to take you.

We are also trying to finish up the second level and bakery. We are working on coming up with a plan for solar equipment that could help power this. I will be going to Haiti with a few other guys the week of April 12th to work on this.

We are also planning to build a permanent Youth Shack church for our kids that won't get torn down every time there is a wind storm.

Our biggest need as always is monthly sponsorship of our orphanage. It costs about $2,000 per month to operate our orphanage and we are underfunded almost every month for this. If you would like contribute on a monthly basis for $25 a month or perhaps more, we would love to partner with you.

Thanks for all your prayers and support. We greatly appreciate everything you all do for the cause of Christ in Haiti. If you would like for me to come to your church to speak about our ministry in Haiti, just send me an email. I would be honored.

God bless you all,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti
email: steve@project127.org

December 2009 Update

Hello again everyone! It's hard to believe another year has gone by. It has now been two years that our kids have been in their current orphanage. We have seen God move in some miraculous ways in the past two years. God has used each and every one of you to play a role in the success of our work in Haiti. We could not do it without the prayers and support of all of you. For this we say , "Thank You and God bless you for your kindness." Here is look at what God has allowed us to do in the past year.

-We took 4 groups to our orphanage in 2009. We were able to do outreach, evangelism, construction, and our very first medical clinic.

-We have had three of our kids adopted to the States, and added two more young boys to our orphanage.

-We have provided a Christian education for each of our kids.

-We have encouraged the growth of the Youth Shack Church at the orphanage.

-We have started the construction on our second level which will give us more space, more bedrooms, and a place for a bakery (This project is about 75% complete.)

-We have began outreach to a neighboring island off the coast of Haiti, and hope to start a church there eventually.

*Please understand that by saying "we", Project 127 Haiti does not take credit for any of it. We know it is only through the grace and provisions of Jesus Christ that we are able to minister in Haiti.

Here is what is in store so far for 2010:

-We hope to complete the second level and get the bakery up and running soon.

-We also plan to extend our ministry to the island and build a church there.

-We plan to build a new Youth Shack Church for our kids at the orphanage.

-We already have 5 groups signed up for short term missions trips to our orphanage.

Year End Contributions: Although we have been extremely blessed, we are operating on a short fall for the 2009 year. If anyone would like to make a contribution at this time, it would be greatly appreciated and 100% will go to the ministry in Haiti. You can send your contribution to Project 127, PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075. (Just note on the donation "Haiti.")

If anyone is interested in going on a short term missions trip with us or becoming a monthly sponsor, contact me at steve@project127.org.

Again, thank you so much for prayers and support over the past year. We hope you have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

God bless you all,

Steve Horne

Director- Project 127 Haiti<div I pray that as summer winds down, you all are doing well. We are excited about what God is doing with our building program in Haiti. Our second level addition and bakery is in full swing. This is also a great opportunity for you to get involved and invest in eternity.

Phase I of our building was recently completed. This included construction of all the outer and inner walls. It has been paid in full. Praise the Lord!

Phase II is currently under way now. This includes a full galvanized metal roof and partial concrete roof to hold our cisterns. It has been paid in full as well. Praise the Lord!

Phase III will hopefully begin soon. This includes plastering all the outer and inner walls and readying them for paint, and also running all the electrical.

Here's how you can help. First let me express the importance of this project. It will give us two extra bedrooms which can house several more kids. It will also give us space for a bakery. This is very exciting, because our older kids will be able to work a few hours in the morning in the bakery. This will teach them responsibility as well as raise money for themselves and for the orphanage. It will also give us a large meeting room where we can hold Bible Study.

This phase will cost us about $6,000. We had two large donors (one private businessman and Rehoboth Baptist Church in Conyers, GA), that funded phases I and II. We now need to raise the entire $6,000 for phase III so we can begin the construction as soon as possible. This is your chance to put your faith into action and make a huge difference for Jesus Christ! We know this is a tough time to raise money, but we believe that God will provide our needs. We know someone out there can help us with this project.

You may send checks to Project 127 PO Box 321, Harrisburg NC 28075 (note on the check for Haiti building). If you can't give, please pray for us that God will provide.

We are also in the planning stages of a big fundraising program that could help our orphanage in a huge way. You will receive more details about this in the near future.

If you have any questions, email me at steve@project127.org. Thank you for your prayers and support!

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Project 127- Haiti

June 09 Trip Update

Hello Everyone! I am very excited to bring you all this update on what God is doing in Haiti through Project 127. A group of nine of us just returned from spending a week in Haiti. There were 3 staff members from Rehobeth Baptist Church in Social Circle, Georgia, 4 of us from King's Way Baptist Church in Concord, NC, and 2 young ladies from Central Church of God in Charlotte. The main purpose of our trip was to deliver the money to the builder that Rehobeth had raised for our bakery and second level construction. This building project is made possible because of this donation and another large donation from an individual. Praise the Lord! You guys are awesome.

We arrived in Haiti on Wednesday, June 24th and drove the 4 hours to our orphanage in Aquin. We said hello to the kids and prepared for our first day of ministry. On Thursday, we hired a boat and went to a very small island off the coast about 30 minutes away. We gathered all the people from the village around and had a great service. They sang for us; we sang for them; we had a competition for the kids, and Pastor Frank Penley preached. It was awesome to see how the people responded and several people gave their lives to Christ. One young man in particular stepped out of his spot at the back of the church and came up to the front so we could pray for him. This was a huge step for him, because he left all his buddies at the back of the church.

On Friday, we drove up into the mountains and hiked about 30 minutes to a remote church in the village of Leje. We sang some songs in English, some in Creole and had a time of worship with the locals there. Pastor Frank preached again and we saw God move through the people that had came out. Several members of the group stayed back at the orphanage and prepared for the opening night of our "special" youth shack service. That night, we had a great service with our kids and the community surrounding the orphanage. We sang some more and Farrell Burton preached a message through our translator.

On Saturday, we spent some quality time with our kids and prepared for the final Youth Shack service. We had challenged all the kids the previous night to bring visitors with them. At the service we gave out special gifts to the people who had brought the most visitors, and everyone that came got a little gift as well. This was a special service because we got to witness how our Youth Shack kid's church has grown into a legitimate church with kids and adults, that is led completely by our kids. Belony, our 14 year old pastor, brought the message, and our lives were touched by witnessing the Spirit of God on him.

Sunday morning, we decided to have a special time of testimonies and songs with our kids. We sang in English, Creole, laughed, and cried as each member of our group and each child at the orphanage stood up and shared what God has done in our lives. It was a special time for all of us. After church, we headed to the beach for a day of fun with all of our kids.

Monday was a ground-breaking day of ministry for our group. Each time I have visited Haiti, I have stared out at the large island that sets off the coast of Aquin called Gwo Cayes. It is a large island with thick vegetation and lots of forests and trees, which is actually unlike most of mainland Haiti. I have always wondered what it would be like to visit this island, but had no way to get there, as it is very isolated. We decided as a group to try and visit this island and hold an open air meeting where we would sing some songs for them and then Pastor Frank would share with them. After locating a guy with a small boat, and waiting over 3 hours for him to prepare his little boat, we boarded for the 40 minute ride to the island. As we approached the island, I think we all became a little nervous. We sailed up to the coast and into a narrow waterway that snaked back through a grove of trees. It didn't help any that the boat captain told us on the way over that it was breeding season for sharks in the waters right under our boat! We got out of the boat and waded through knee deep water, then walked through tall grass and trees until we came to a small village of about 15 huts. We gathered everyone around and sang for them, and Frank shared with them and challenged them. It was awesome to see how attentive they were. Most of these people had never seen outsiders, as they had never left the island. It was truly tribal missions. After we finished, this one man stood and said he would like to say something. He said they didn't have a church anywhere on the island, and they would love to learn more about Jesus, but they didn't have anyone to teach them. He said he had been praying for someone to come and tell them and we were an answer to his prayers! WOW!!!! We were also fortunate to have taken several of our boys with us to this island. As we were leaving, we asked Belony if we would put a church on this island, would he be willing to visit several times a month to teach them. He jumped at the idea! This may be a little way out, but we are praying about how to work out the logistics of this. It looks like God may be leading us to start our second church in Haiti! On Monday night we gathered everyone around in the street outside our hotel and had a street meeting. We sang again, and I preached a message to them on the importance of preparing for God's Team.

On Tuesday, we returned to Port au Prince and checked into a hotel and relaxed for our last night. We left early Wednesday morning to return home, each of us being greatly changed from the person we were when we left home. This is why we do missions: not only to help people, but to see how God uses that to change our own lives and draw us closer to Him. Now we get to share this with everyone at our work, schools, and churches.

Thank you so much to everyone who has been praying for us and our ministry. We are seeing God open some big doors in Haiti. Please continue to pray for the following things:

monthly budget (almost $2000, of which we are almost always short)

construction of addition and bakery

leadership of bakery

our church in Haiti (we need to build a permanent structure for them to meet in)

possibly starting our second church on Gwo Cayes

God bless you all,

Steve Horne

Project 127 Haiti

*If you would like to help in any way, respond to steve@project127.org or email donations to Project 127 PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075.

June 09 Trip Pictures

<img style="cursor:pointer; It is such an exciting time in Haiti right now. God is doing some big things. A group of 9 of us will be leaving Wednesday morning June 24th for a week long missions trip to our orphanage. We will be holding six evangelistic services in 4 days in remote villages as well as at our orphanage. We are so excited as this will give us a chance to visit several of the villages that we held a medical clinic in in April. We will also be working on some projects at the orphanage with our kids. I am grateful for the group from Rehobeth Baptist Church in Social Circle, Georgia that will be going down with me. They have been such a blessing to our work in Haiti.

This is also a big week for our work in Haiti for another reason. Construction started Monday on the second level to our orphanage that will house a meeting room, more bedrooms, and a bakery. This has been a project that we have been praying about for a while now, and we are excited to see God allowing it to happen. Thank you so much to Rehobeth Baptist and an anonymous business man who donated the money to fund this project. What a blessing!

Please pray for our safety this week and that we will be able to reach lots of people with the message of Jesus Christ. If your church would like for me to come and share about our work in Haiti, I would love to. Just send me a message or email. If you would like to sponsor our orphanage in Haiti, let me know. We could not continue without the help and sacrifice of kind people like you.

God bless you all,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

April Medical Missions Trip & Other Random Pics

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/ShwSQqigu0I/AAAAAAAAAFo/9fa-xzjcVKQ/s400/Haiti+in+January+030.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340163335660813122" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 262px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/ShwRZ26GLdI/AAAAAAAAAFg/GqO4xZTekqU/s400/april+09+trip.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5340162394088156626" />

Trip Update

Hello everyone. Sorry it's been a few days since I last posted. After only one post in Haiti, we lost internet service and never got it back. The joy and unpredictability of third world countries! Our team just made it back to the States last night and we have some huge praises to report.

In four days of clinic, we were able to see almost 500 patients. It was incredible to be out in these remote villages in south Haiti and witness all the people coming out to be treated with free checkups and medicine. We had the opportunity to meet lots of interesting people and see some very sad cases. We were able to provide medical relief, even if only for a day, to lots of suffering people. We ask ourselves, was it worth it and the answer is, absolutely! These people deserve to have that relief, even if temporary. But beyond that, we were able to share with them that they have a hope and relief that is eternal and is found only in Jesus Christ. Before we started each clinic day, we would get all the patients together with our team and praise God in song and prayer. We wanted them to know why we came to Haiti to do this. We wanted them to see God's love in us. I John 4:19 says, "We love because he first loved us." That was our whole purpose in going. I would like to give a special thanks to the great team from Miller Evangelical Christian Union in Brooklyn for a great trip! They are what made the week so great!

God led us every step of the way, and nothing happens by accident. We had planned to return to Port au Prince on Sunday evening, and fly home on Monday morning. Upon arriving in Haiti, we learned that Sunday was election day, and that no one was allowed to travel on the road for safety reasons. This changed our plans in a big way by causing us to return to PAP a day early on Saturday. We were all disappointed because we had planned on spending all Saturday with our kids at the beach. Not knowing what plan God had in mind, we returned to PAP Saturday afternoon and planned to relax until Monday morning. Sunday afternoon, we learned why God had worked it out like this. We were introduced to a man that lived just up the street from the guesthouse where we were staying. His name is Jonas, and he invited me, Farrell and Andrew Burton, and Pastor Taitt (from NY) to visit his house. He showed us all around and then invited us in for Cokes. As we sat on his couch, he began to share with us about his life, and we could see that he was searching for something. We were able to share with him how Jesus is the something that can fill that void, and we all bowed our heads and Pastor Taitt led him to Christ! What a great final day of our trip. God makes no mistakes. Just a little love can change someone's life for eternity.

I ask you today, are you sharing that love with the people you meet? Let's try and not get so much in a hurry, that we don't see the people God puts in front of us. I pray that you will take the time to share His love. Remember, "We love because He first loved us."

God bless you all,
Steve

Update From Haiti

Hello again everyone. This trip will have a huge medical emphasis as we will set up clinics in four different villages in four days. We will also be holding vacation Bible School meetings each night in our Youth Shack and these villages.

We have recently had lots of clothes, supplies, and money donated for our kids in Haiti. I cannot say enough how appreciative we all are for your giving. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We couldn't do it without your support and prayers.

I hope to do an ongoing update several times during our trip to let you all know how the Lord is working. We have some exciting things coming up!

On Monday, April 13th, seven people from King's Way Baptist Church and 22 from Brooklyn, NY will be heading to Haiti for a week long medical missions trip. We will be setting up in four different villages and seeing patients for various medical problems. This will be an exciting opportunity to not only treat them medically, but also to share about Jesus with them. While all this is going on, we will also have a team at the orphanage working on various projects such as clean up and organization.
We will finish up each night with vacation Bible school and services at the Youth Shack at the orphanage.

We have a team from Rehoboth Baptist in Social Circle, GA, coming down to Haiti on June 24th. We will be starting the construction on the second level of our orphanage. This will give us more bedrooms, a meeting room, and also space for a bakery. This church has been an awesome blessing to Project 127 Haiti since our beginning, and they have once again pledged to raise $10,000 towards the construction. Praise the Lord!

Lake Norman Christian School in Huntersville, NC has recently committed to help raise the tuition for all our kids to go to school next year. What a blessing this will be. They will be holding a big fund raiser event in May called "Hike for Haiti." I will also be speaking at their chapel service next Tuesday, March 31st. We are so happy to have them on board with us.

As you can see, God is doing some awesome things in Haiti. We could not continue to minister there without your help. If you would like to help, here's how you can:

-Pray for us and our kids
-Sponsor on a monthly basis or a one time gift (we still have a huge need in this area)
-Pray about going on a trip to Haiti with us

If you would like to donate (all donations tax deductible), please send it to Project 127 PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075.

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Project 127 Haiti

Praise the Lord!

We just returned back from Haiti. What an amazing trip God let us be a part of. Sorry about the lack of updates, which I had hoped to make on the trip. Each time we went to the internet cafe to post, the service was conveniently down.

We flew into Port-au-Prince on Wednesday evening and spent the night there. We got up early Thursday morning and drove to Aquin and saw the kids for a little bit and dropped off Rusty Baker at the orphanage to work on some projects during the week. That afternoon we drove down to au Cayes and showed the Jesus film in a small church there and spent the night. Friday morning we drove to St. George where we boarded a little boat for a 45 minute ride to a small island just off the coast of Haiti. When I say small, I mean very small. You could walk the whole island in less than 1 hour. We showed the Jesus film there and headed back to Aquin Friday afternoon. On Saturday we drove to the mountains to a village called Leje, where we parked and hiked up the mountain and showed the Jesus film that night. Sunday morning we were in church in Aquin, and then headed out to St. George and showed the Jesus film in a small church, where we had over 600 people attend. Our kids from the orphanage accompanied us and helped out as well. Monday it was back to Port-au-Prince and then we flew home Tuesday.

The best part of it is that over 1,000 people saw the film and heard the presentation of the Gospel in four days. We saw over 160 people accept Christ as their Savior! What an awesome experience to think that God allowed us to even be a part of this. Along the way, we also did lots of planning for groups that will be coming to Haiti in the coming months. Thank you so much to everyone who prayed for us and continues to do so on a daily basis. God is doing great things in Haiti!

God bless you,
Steve Horne
Director- Project 127 Haiti
www.project127-haiti.com

Back to Haiti

Here we go again. I am so excited. On Wednesday, Feb. 18th, Sam Danjoint and I will be traveling to Haiti for a very exciting 7 days. We have lots of stuff on the agenda, almost too much, but it should be a very productive trip. First of all, we will be preparing all the necessary details for a large medical group from Brooklyn that will be traveling to Haiti with us in April. We also have lots of video footage to take for our annual missions conference at King's Way Baptist Church in March. Then, the most important part of our trip is the evangelistic part. We will be traveling to a different village each day and preaching and showing the Jesus Film at night. We hope to visit four different villages while we are there. Please pray for us to have safe travels while we are gone.

Check back to my blog during the week and I will try and update several times while in Haiti. This may be difficult because we will have very limited internet access, but I'll try. Let's pray that God gives us big crowds and open hearts to hear His message. It's not about us, it's all about Him!

God bless you all,
Steve Horne

Haiti Promo Video

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v10.nonxt3.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D3a3ddc3fa11e9f86%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330298576%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D28DCD97E17CC7D8A07FC86F711C4A71F38D67755.2E70A05A9A31CF2373AD322B0251106136CB17F9%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D3a3ddc3fa11e9f86%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DuEY1FwhEE2CQ4BpNVytR3DVCIsA&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

New Year, New Hope

I love this time of year. It is a time of new beginnings and renewed energy. It is a time for us to get a fresh start with God. This is also an exciting time for our kids at our orphanage. They are looking forward to a new semester at school and a new year for visitors coming to the orphanage. It is also a very exciting time for several of our kids as their adoptions are nearing completion!

We have some exciting things planned for our ministry in Haiti in 2009. We will be taking numerous mission trips to the orphanage, and we will hopefully be building the next phase of our orphanage: a second level and a bakery. We couldn't do this without your continued prayers and support. Be sure to keep checking our website at www.project127-haiti.com for exciting information about what God is doing in Aquin, Haiti. We will soon be posting dates for our 2009 Mission Trips to Haiti. If anyone is interested in bringing a group for an awesome week of ministry and outreach, send me an email at steve@project127.org.

We just sent our small shipment of flip flops and school supplies to the orphanage. We plan on a large scale shipment of flip flops that will serve as an outreach to the community of Aquin. This will be a great way to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Check out these pictures of some of the flip flops that were donated to Project 127 Haiti. We cannot say enough about how our kids are being leaders for Jesus Christ.

Also, with the leading of Andrew Burton (a teenager who went to Haiti with us over the summer), First Assembly Christian School and Hickory Grove Christian School raised over 4,250 pairs of flip flops for Haiti. We will be sending the first shipment of them down in November. Andrew represents a changed life as a result of going on a missions trip to Haiti. That's what our trips are all about!

As most of you know, one of our boys from Haiti has been here in the States with us for the last three months. Fito has been speaking in churches and schools to raise awareness for Project 127 Haiti. This weekend is his last one before we go back to Haiti on Monday the 20th. He will be speaking and singing during the Saturday night service at King's Way Baptist Church at 6:30pm. You won't want to miss hearing his story of how God has changed his life! Email me if you need directions.

Once again, thank you so much for all you do for Jesus Christ! You will never know how much of an impact you are having in the country of Haiti. If you know anyone else who might like to know about Project 127 Haiti, please pass this email on to them.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://stevehornehaiti.blogspot.com/2008/10/oct-update-fito-returns-to-haiti.html' title='Oct. Hurricane Gustav is expected to hit Haiti sometime this evening. It is not very powerful yet, but any amount of rain and wind could be devastating to this poor country. I spoke with the kids at the orphanage this morning and they said that they are seeing some wind now, but the rain has not started yet. Let's pray that the wind does not damage their "youth shack," and that there isn't much flooding. If you look at the map I attached, Haiti is in the lower right of the picture. Our orphanage is located in Aquin, Haiti, right in the middle of the southwest tip that sticks out. This is right in the projected path of the hurricane. I'll post an update as soon as I have more news.

God bless you,
Steve Horne

New Website

Hey everyone. I want to say thank you for all of your prayers and support. With everyone's help, we were able to once again meet the budget for the orphanage last month. Sometimes it gets a little crazy, but God always provides. I think He is just teaching us to rely on Him more, and that we cannot do anything without Him.

We just had another missions team come to Haiti last week. It was awesome to see God at work in the community. We trained our kids on puppets and dramas and took their "youth shack" out into the community. We drew a crowd of around 200 on Friday night on a grassy hill in the middle of the community. It was a very difficult crowd to say the least. When we did puppets for the community kids, they tried to rush the stage. It was like working security at a rock concert! In spite of the unruly crowd, Belony preached the Gospel with passion, and after he finished, we gave an ivitation to accept Christ. Several people gave their lives to Christ that night. They will now be welcomed into the youth shack each Wednesday night where they can learn about Jesus.

We are also pleased to announce that one of our older boys from the orphanage, Fito, has returned with us to the States for about three months. He is very gifted in singing and speaking and we will be traveling together to different churches and schools to share the ministry in Haiti. Our schedule is filling up fast, but if you would like to schedule for us to come, please email me at steve@project127.org. We would love to come share with you.

Thanks again for having a part in God's work in Haiti! I hope this update finds you all well. I am pleased to bring you another update on our ministry in Haiti.

We just hosted two missions groups at our orphanage in Haiti. We had 28 people there from the 11th-18th, and 11 people there from the 18th-25th. We were all able to come together and get lots of work done for our kids, and more importantly for Jesus Christ. We built new bunk beds, new showers, new benches for the youth shack (church), a new closet, and a chicken coup. We also installed a solar pump on our well. I want to say a thank you to everyone involved for helping us to accompish so much in two short weeks.

We also held worship services almost every night. We sang songs, did crafts, sang more songs, and gave the gospel message. We saw many people receive Jesus Christ as their Savior. We showed the Jesus film one Friday night and had almost 600 in attendance. It was such a joy to see their enthusiasm for learning about Jesus.

Our kids at the orphanage are continuing to change their community. They have finished school for the summer and have amped up their Wednesday night services to try and bring more kids in.

Praise the Lord for the work He is accomplishing in Haiti. Without your help and prayers, it would not be possible. We ask that you would pray how God could continue to use you in this ministry. The slow down of the economy has unfortunately hurt our incoming support as well. We still have a large shortfall for the coming month of July (almost $1500 to be exact). If you would like to participate in this, email me at steve@project127.org or mail it to Project 127, PO Box 321 Harrisburg, NC 28075.

God bless you all,
Steve Horne
Project 127 of Haiti

Gift Card Winners

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/SEXl03icukI/AAAAAAAAACU/_SyS0ylPWTI/s400/raffle+1.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207821240548244034" />
<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_7VLyVbYIMiA/SEXl2DMBP8I/AAAAAAAAACc/tBToaTYZLYY/s400/raffle+3.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5207821260855263170" />
I want to say a special thank you to everyone who participated in the gift card raffle to benefit our orphanage in Haiti. We have been praying for several months to be able to get the well installed, and that we would have clean water. Many of the wells in the area have salty water, which prevent them from being used for drinking water.

God answered all of our prayers last week. The well was dug, finished, and completely installed in just a few short days. Also, the water is not salty and should be drinkable as soon as we install a filter on it! Praise the Lord!

Thank you so much to all of you who invested time, prayers, and money to get this well for the kids. They now have clean water to shower with, cook with, and drink. Now we can also put a much needed garden at the orphanage. It's time for another update on the Project 127 ministry in Haiti. I just returned from another visit to our orphanage in Aquin. I am happy to report that the kids are continuing to excel in their new home. They are making a huge impact in their community. Their Wednesday night youth service is seeing steady numbers come each week to hear the Word of God. Our 11 kids have stepped up in a huge way and are completely leading their own service that meets each week in the back yard of the orphanage. Last Friday night we had a special youth service at the house and had over 50 people attend. I spoke to the kids on the importance of living for God without hesitation, using the examples of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. We gave an invitation and saw 25 precious people accept Christ as their Personal Savior! Praise the Lord!

Thank you so much to everyone who continues to invest both their time, prayers, and money. This is definitely a team effort, and we could not continue to do God's work without you all.

We have a lot planned for this summer, with three different groups coming to visit the orphanage. Please pray with us about this. Also, let's continue to pray for the Haitian people and government.

God bless you all,
Steve Horne
Project 127 of Haiti

MARCH UPDATE

First of all, I would like to thank everyone who has had a part in the ministry in Haiti, either financially or through prayer. I cannot tell you enough how vital you have been to the daily work that goes on. It is awesome to see how God has taken people from all over the U.S. and brought us together with one common goal: to glorify Jesus through our kids in Haiti.

The kids are continuing to thrive in their new environment. They are now an influential part of the community of Aquin. This is a miracle considering they have only been here for a little over three months. They are doing great in school, and they absolutely love getting up and going to learn everyday.

The Wednesday night youth service that the kids have started is thriving! They had a burden to reach out to other kids in their commmunity and decided to start their own church service. They are completely leading the whole service and are consistently averaging 40-50 kids every week. It's great to see how the kids have caught the vision of Project 127: to help others in need.

We will be taking three mission groups to the orphanage this summer. The first group is a family/work group, and will be going on June 11th-18th. The second group is a family group and will be going June 18th-25th. The third group is a teen/young adult group and will be going the first week of August. If anyone is interested in going on a trip to Haiti, or perhaps scheduling your church group to go, send me and email.

Again, we are so excited to see how God is changing lives both in Haiti and in the U.S. If you would like to help in any way, send me an email. We would love to come and share an update on our ministry in Haiti with you!

Building Eternity,
Steve Horne
steve@project127.org

NEW HAITI SHIRTS

We just got some new Haiti t-shirts printed. The first man is Jules who has been working with us for awhile now. It is awesome to see his life changing daily. The second man is Tisan. He recently started helping us also, and two of our kids led him to Christ!

Also, please pray for continued support of the ministry in Haiti. We have began distributing our new sponsorship packets. We are praying for 150 new monthly sponsors by the end of February. This will be a great blessing to our ministry, as it will enable our ministry in Haiti to run more efficiently. If you are interested in sponsoring, or if you think you can help us get some packets out there, email me at steve@project127.org.
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v8.nonxt7.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3Db794257df59f7f89%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330298576%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D81AB2E8161F945A6556B087FC73468A97F622599.56B4CE94715F39659597F76C6BB9E2349BA639BA%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3Db794257df59f7f89%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DljUt1NGSKlULu94dCcbApiysspA&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5163914501166081042" style="DISPLAY: block; There were 10 people from King's Way and 3 from Texas that made up our group. The words I use to describe this trip will not even be sufficient, but I'll do the best I can.

We left on Sunday, Jan. 20th and flew to Fort Lauderdale and spent the night. We were at the airport in Fort Laud. at 5:00am to catch our 6:50am flight to Port-au-Prince on Monday morning the 21st.

We arrived in PAP at 9:00am, got some lunch, and started our 3 hour drive to the orphanage in Aquin, Haiti. By the time we got to the orphanage, several of us were already sunburned from riding in the back of the truck. We went and said hello to the kids, gave everyone a quick tour of the orphanage, and headed to the hotel to check in. Monday night we headed back to the orphanage for a time of singing and praising the Lord in both English and Creole. It was a great way to kick off the week. One of the girls in our group wasn't feeling well and stayed behind at the hotel. While setting out on the balcony, she could hear our voices carrying out across the whole town. We were several miles away from her! God was preparing us for a great week.

On Tuesday, we awoke early and headed to the orphanage for a long day of work. We started painting the orphanage, and building a shower house behind the the orphanage. That night, we headed to church with the kids.

On Wednesday, we awoke early again, and headed back to the orphanage for more painting and building. We were able to paint nearly the entire inside of the house (minus the kitchen and hallway) and the entire front including the porch. I will try and post some before and after pictures soon, so everyone can see the dramatic transformation. We also had rock, sand, blocks, and cement delivered and started building the shower house. Many thanks to Rusty and Jessica Baker's church in Forsan, Texas for donating the money for all of the materials and paint. Wednesday night we planned to kick off a new youth service at the orphanage. The boys even built a new "Youth Shack" to hold the service in. We invited many people to come out to the service that night. We were not prepared for the blessing God had in store for all of our group. Over 150 people attended, with another 50 or so watching from outside the fence. The service was led completely by our kids. Mika, Fabienne, Jean Claude, and Fito led the music, and Belony preached. He preached with maturity way beyond his 13 years, and with a passion that I have rarely seen in my entire life. At the end of the service, 7 people personally came up to us and received Jesus as their Savior, with many more praying the prayer during the invitation.

On Thursday, we had a baptism service at the beach. Our main guy there in Haiti, Jules, was baptized in the ocean. We had a special time of testimonies, as Jules told of how much his life has changed since he started working with us. His wife was able to come down from Port-au-Prince to be a part of this special time. We also baptized a young man named TiSan (he's 20 years old)who has been helping us for the last two months. He started out working for us and carrying water to the house. As Belony began witnessing to him, he trusted in Jesus as his Savior. That night was our last night with the kids. We had a special service at the orphanage with the kids and our group. We sang songs in Creole and English and gave testimonies of how the week had changed us. Belony gave a passionate testimony of praise to God, and Lili did as well. What a change God has made in their lives! We all wept with pride in our kids as they one by one spoke with the wisdom and confidence of a seasoned Christian.

Friday morning we headed back to Port-au-Prince. Another 3 hour ride that was made a little longer because of a flat tire. That night at the hotel, we got together again and reflected on the trip. We all went to Haiti with the idea of helping the kids and influencing them, but we all agreed we were the ones who had been influenced and changed.

On Saturday, we flew back home with our hearts full of the lessons that God had taught us during the week. A new fire and passion burns in all of us who went, to continue to make a difference in the lives of our kids in Haiti, and in the lives of our friends and neighbors at home.

It is an honor for me to have a part in the work that God is doing in Haiti. We could do nothing without Him. All praise is due to Him for the change in the lives of our kids. It is my prayer that as long as I live, God will allow me to help "build eternity, one child at a time."

Steve Horne

Project 127-Haiti

January Update

This new year finds us with a lot of excitement about Haiti. The kids have now moved into their new home and are doing great. They love the area and are having a blast playing soccer with the neighborhood kids. They have also had the opportunity to share Jesus with some of the kids in the area. They want to start a prayer group at their orphanage in the near future. We are still waiting on the company to come and drill the well. I spoke with them just the other day and there have been several setbacks. There has been a lot of rain in the area in the past few months and they have to let the road dry out, then bring in a backhoe and fix the road. Also, a driller from the States was coming down to help them catch up and he had to back out at the last minute. Unfortunately, nothing happens fast in Haiti! Let's keep praying for this.

We will be taking our first missions team to the new orphanage at the end of January. We will be doing several work projects and some outreach in the community. If anyone is interested in going in the future, or taking a team in, email me and let me know.

The kids will also be starting school very soon. They will be getting a great quality education at a Christian school. It will cost around $100 per child for their school. This includes registration, tuition (Jan.-May), uniforms, books, and sports. If anyone would like to help a child go to school, please email me and let me know. We are praying for help in this area. We will also be launching a new sponsorship program in the next month, so stay tuned!

Building Eternity,

Steve Horne

Project 127-Haiti

steve@project127.org

December Update

Hello again everyone. I just returned from another successful trip to Haiti. It is awesome to see God at work in the lives of our children there. On Monday, we made a trip down to the new orphanage, along with all the boys. We took the table, chairs, mattresses, fans, stove, and many other items with us. The boys really enjoyed helping us move the stuff into their new house. They are so excited about the new opportunities that God is providing for them.

The road leading up to the orphanage has suffered a lot of damage from all the rain that has fell in south Haiti in the last month. It was difficult to navigate through all the ruts in the road, and at one point we had to push the truck after it got stuck in the mud. When we walked into the house, we were surprised to see several inches of water standing in the floor. Since the entire house is made from concrete, it didn't do any damage, but it took us several hours to mop it up. We just assumed it was from all the rain, but after closer inspection, we discovered it was leaking from the pipes running into the kitchen. This was a blessing that we didn't expect! It seems all the rain has started the water flowing in that area of town again. This means that for now there is water in the house, although not enough pressure to fill the cistern on the roof. With all that said, here is the situation on the water. We can go ahead and move the kids in with the amount of water we have now. As soon as the road dries out, they will be coming to fix the road and drill the well, which will permanently fix the problem.

Last Tuesday, the three older boys (Mika, Julmis, and Fito) were heading back to the capital after helping us move the stuff into the house. They were traveling with one of our helpers in the truck that we often use while in Haiti. The axle broke on the front of the truck which sent it flipping over and totalled the truck. It was a very serious accident, but miraculously, none of the four involved had even a scratch. After seeing the truck, it was hard to believe they weren't killed. It was a clear testimony to the kids that God had his hand on them and was protecting them. Praise the Lord!

Please pray about this: This Saturday, the kids will be leaving the capital and moving into their new home. Next week they will be taking placement exams in their new school. This will let the teachers know where to place them when the new semester starts in January.

Here is a list of additional prayer requests: Pray that the kids will adjust in their new home and community, pray for Marie (the house mother of all the kids), pray that God will help us meet the financial costs of operating the orphanage every month, pray that God will help us solve the transportation problem we now have since our helper's truck was wrecked, and pray that God will help us meet the need of school tuition for the kids (school is not free in Haiti, and we will need to come up with about $125 per child).

Also, please view the short thank you messages several of the kids gave. We hope it will bless you as much as it blessed us! It is so cool to see how Jesus Christ has changed their lives, and how He is shaping them to be great Christian leaders in the future!

Building Eternity,

Steve, Ashley, Mya, & Elijah Horne

Well Update / January Mission Trip

Hello again everyone. I wanted to give another update on how things are going in Haiti. The kids are all doing great. They are very excited and anxious about moving into their new orphanage and enrolling in their new school. Still, the only thing holding us up is getting the well drilled at the orphanage. I spoke with the company that is going to drill for us and they came out and looked at the property to get an idea about the drilling location. Because of all the rain from Tropical Storm Noel, there are now huge ruts in the road, where the water ran off the mountain. They are going to have to let the road dry out more, and then come in with a dozer to fix the road before they can get their drilling rig to the property. This means more time and more money, but we still hope to have the well finished by the first or second week of December. I will be back in Haiti the last week of November meeting with the company again to assess the situation. We also hope to move most of the furniture and belongings to the orphanage so it will be ready as soon as the well is finished.

We will be taking our first missions group in to the new orphanage the week of January 20-26th, 2008. We still have several spots open, so if you are interested, email me at steve@project127.org ASAP for more details. You don't want to miss out on this exciting adventure. We will spend the week doing some painting and work projects, as well as evangelism and outreach in the community.

Please keep praying for these kids and their new home!

Well/Storm Update

I just wanted to give a quick update on things in Haiti. For those of you who are not familiar, we brought 11 kids from our orphanage in Haiti to the States. They were here from Feb. through July. It was a culture shock from the moment they got on the plane in Port-au-Prince.

They were able to experience many things that they would not have had the opportunity to experience in Haiti. They had the chance to perform in over 40 churches and share hope with everyone they met. They also went to the zoo, to Washington DC, to New York City, and to Carowinds (amusement park.) Most importantly they heard for the first time in their lives that Jesus Christ loved them, and all 11 accepted Jesus as their Savior!

As they returned to Haiti, we wondered how well they would adjust back to life there. I can tell you with great joy that they are now thriving back in Haiti. They now walk around with confidence as they share Jesus with other people. Instead of being looked down upon, they are now looked up to as leaders. There is a difference in them that is noticeable to everyone they come in contact with.

Thanks to everyone who made the H.O.P.E. tour a SUCCESS!
